HOW DO I GET ON A COMMITTEE OR TASK FORCE?
Annually, the chamber
inquires about your interests and expertise in business issues and
community issues.
The chamber has three permanent task forces, the Diplomat's Club which acts as the chamber's
public relations arm; the Government Affairs Task Force which monitors business legislative issues and
focuses on
business issues in the community.
WHAT'S THE CHAMBER'S RELATIONSHIP WITH CITY HALL?
While not connected directly with local government, we work very closely with city council
members and staff in a number of ways. We have a contract with the city to provide economic development programs. We also provide advice and
opinions on a range of issues, including transportation, taxation, land use, redevelopment and public safety.
DOES THE CHAMBER ENDORSE CANDIDATES?
No. Our policy is to study and take action on nearly every issue that affects your
business and/or community, but to leave the election of candidates to the citizens. However, we provide information and forums for you and strongly
encourage business people to support pro-business candidates.
